Mural Project 2010!

ALL DONE!!!!!

Making the local paper!
Wahooo!

This is a little oil sketch I did as a break form the mural. This site is just below the building that I am painting on.

Here is the sketch for the second side and what I've done so far. I may keep hacking away at the wave, as it does not read quite right to me... we'll see how much time I have!

Bait ball might be my favorite part of this mural so far because I didn't know if it would turn out and I really like it. For those of you who think this looks funny- out here the sardines and mackerel do this when they get into a frenzy. They all want to be in the center of the school where it is safest, and thus they cause a fish tornado.

Crazy things to see on the way to paint. Hearst Ranch has Zebras!

Harbor Seal and holdfast action.

Sea Otter and the beginnings of the kelp forest.

Looking at what people chose to build when they have an opportunity to build something in a beautiful place. This was actually pretty "normal" for around here.

Diving Pelican today....

Day One of painting- filling in some major spaces. Stucco has at least twice the surface area as a regular wall... so I'm going through a lot of paint already!

This is the final sketch for the left side of the building. And then there was the tick incident where after I had this photo up on my computer and glanced at the screen, I was convinced I saw a tick on my laces. I was already naked before I realized it wasn't a tick. Classic.

Here I am in lovely San Simeon, about to start a new educational mural. Still waiting on a paint order and design decisions to be made by others... hence the blogging.

This is the "before"shot if anyone is interested in watching the mural progression. Unfortunate things to note: south facing stucco wall with a decent amount of shrubbery in the foreground which I will try my best not to trample.

This morning I walked out to some caves at low tide and was AMAZED at what I saw. The dense plethora of diverse life made me laugh out loud with glee.
